Fundamental British Values underpin what it is to be a citizen in a modern and diverse Great Britain valuing our community and celebrating diversity of the UK.
The teaching of these values is done both as separate lessons and through the whole curriculum. Examples of learning about democracy include voting for the school council representatives. Respect and tolerance can be taught through RE or PHSE.

To celebrate Remembrance Day, our entire school had the opportunity to visit Scapegoat Hill Baptist Church, which is located right next door.
Our friends from the church shared with us how they had commemorated the day. They had laid wreaths and created a beautiful display. Moreover, the local children from the youth club and our school had contributed to the church gardens by crafting their own poppies.
We learned about The Roll of Heroes, a record that pays tribute to all the soldiers from our community who lost their lives during World War I. Additionally, we discovered the Book of Remembrance, which details the life stories of these fallen soldiers.
It was a deeply moving moment for all of us as we realised that some of these brave individuals were just 18 years old, already married, and employed as weavers in the local mills. We learned about the sacrifices made by the people from the village, and we all had a sense of gratitude and respect for their courage and dedication.
