Forest School

Forest School is based on the belief that all children have the right to play and the right to access the outdoors (preferably in a woodland setting). Its ethos is that by being child-led it will encourage an inquisitiveness of nature and the natural world we live in.

Children experience a range of emotions, an increased readiness to take risks and ultimately develop the resilience, creativity, social, emotional and team building skills needed to allow them to reach their potential.

Some of our brilliant and hard working children in years 5 and 6 and members of the community helped Mrs Lodge build a new fence for our garden and forest school area.
They used dead branches woven between vertical stakes to provide hiding spots and nesting areas for birds and small creatures. It looks outstanding and further enhances our beautiful school grounds.

Our forest school leader, Rosie Taylor, certainly knows how to create exciting and educational experiences. We had a blast making friendship bracelets with hacksaws and then constructing waterproof and protective shelters. The sunny weather made the outdoor learning even more enjoyable – a truly well-spent afternoon!
