Pupil wellbeing
Wellbeing is a priority for everyone in school, both for themselves and others. Children will not learn to the best if their ability if they are not happy or do not feel safe. We have a number of strategies in school to support children’s mental and physical wellbeing, including:
- Buddy Chats – All adults in school are here for children to talk to if they are struggling or worrying about something, and there are many websites available offering support and advice on children’s health and wellbeing – no child has to feel alone.
- My Happy Mind – We are proud to announce that we are a myHappymind Bronze Accredited school! This means that as a school we consider the mental health and wellbeing of our children as one of our top priorities. We have created a whole school culture that helps build our children’s resilience, confidence and self esteem as well as teaching them how to self regulate in those stressful times.
- Zones of Regulation – a programme based on colours, children learning to identify emotions and how to deal with feelings in a positive way.
- Kirklees Keeping In Mind – We are in partnership with Kirklees Keeping in Mind – a partnership with the NHS and child psychologists to support children with mild anxiety, low mood or changes in behaviour.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you believe your children is suffering from poor mental health.
We also have a Parent and Community Worker, who is here to help support parents and carers in supporting their children and families in improving mental health.
